30 Rock: Season 4 Episode 9: Klaus and Greta

kimekolizfrancopartyThe TGS staff return from a Christmas break. Liz tells Jack she had a great time with her family while Jack confesses he has made the decision to get over Nancy for good. Jenna is excited about a promotional gig with her pretending to be James Franco’s girlfriend in order to hide the fact that Franco is having a relationship with his Japanese body pillow named “Kimeko”.

Jack checks his cell phone and realizes he left a drunken message on New Year’s Eve on Nancy’s answering machine and doesn’t know what he said on the message. Jack has Cerie check Nancy’s YouFace status which shows she is on vacation. Thinking he can erase his message if he breaks into Nancy’s home, Jack enlists Kenneth to help him do the deed before he “Lemons” the situation any more. Liz is chagrined at his use of her name in his bungling the situation. Tracy announces to Liz and Frank he has gotten Angie pregnant during the Christmas break and knows its a girl because he screamed “Susan B. Anthony” at conception.

Jack sends Kenneth through the doggy door to enter Nancy’s home. Jack and Kenneth need to figure out the code for her voicemail box. As Kenneth tries to access Nancy’s computer it keeps taking pictures of him, eventually placing his photo across her entire computer screen. Jack snoops around and finds evidence that Nancy’s husband is sleeping on the couch and is vacationing in a different place than Nancy and her kids.

While Liz was visiting her family at Christmas she was tipsy and accidently “outed” her cousin Randy, who is gay. Her cousin surprises her with a visit to New York, ready to party it up from his previous closeted lifestyle. Liz panics and insists Randy stay at her apartment so they can do fun things like a contest to see who goes to sleep first.

James Franco and Jenna are seen at the hot spots around New York so paparazzi can photograph their fake romance. Jenna begins to fall for James after a passionate kiss, only to find out he kissed her because he thought he saw a photographer. Seems James only has eyes for his body pillow. When Jenna asks Liz for advice, Liz tells Jenna to break up with James Franco because to her it is obvious Jenna wants love in her life and she shouldn’t settle for a fake relationship.

Jack finally listens to his voicemail message, recounting how he loved Nancy in their German class, calling her Greta while she called him Klaus. Kenneth erases Jack’s message from the computer before they leave. Jack decides he should give Nancy up because she has not shown any interest in seeing him again. Back in New York Kenneth suddenly realizes that Nancy’s voicemail code number translates to the letters “Klaus”, her nickname for Jack. Thrilled with the news that Nancy has not forgotten him all these years, Jack’s hopes to have a relationship with Nancy are renewed. Jack leaves a new voicemail message to meet up with her and her husband the next time they are in New York.

Liz finds out Randy apparently snuck out during the night to party. Randy tells Liz to lighten up. Liz realizes Randy’s advice is right, who is she to advise Randy or Jenna in their love lives when she has no luck in her love life. Jenna decides to break up her fake relationship with James Franco. Jenna tells James not to “Lemon” his life away; they both deserve real love in their lives. Franco decides to go public with his Japanese body pillow and thanks Jenna for the advice.

Liz hits the clubs with Randy. As they dance Liz runs into James Franco and his Japanese body pillow “Kimeko” and starts dancing with them. The next morning Liz appears from her bedroom with James Franco and Kimeko looking disheveled after an apparent threesome. Randy is creeped out and decides its time for him to leave New York and head home to Pennsylvania.
