Homer and Marge practice their duet of “Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off” for their cousin’s wedding. At work Homer opens a fortune cookie, the fortune tells Homer this is his lucky day. Lucky things keep happening to Homer so he heads for the Kwik-E-Mart to buy a lottery ticket. The lottery ticket line is very long and Homer has to wait forever. Homer is supposed to meet Marge at their cousin’s wedding but instead he stays in the line for the lottery ticket. Marge ends up singing the duet by herself, creating an awkward situation. Marge brings Bart on stage with her trying to tell knock-knock jokes and gets booed off the stage. Homer finally buys his lottery ticket and races to the wedding, only to end up driving off the road and tumbling down the hill.

In the hospital Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie are grateful Homer wakes up from his coma. Homer wakes up just in time to find out his lottery ticket has the winning numbers, making him a millionaire.

Homer realizes if he tells Marge about the lottery money she will know he missed their duet because he was buying a lottery ticket instead. Fearing Marge’s anger, Homer has his friend Barney accept the lottery money for him. Homer hides his money in a tree in his yard. The washing machine breaks down and Marge laments how they can’t afford a new one. Homer realizes the only way he can spend his money is to set up situations where he and the family “accidently” find items they want or need.

Lisa visits Grandpa at his retirement community and finds their cable is out and all they can see on the TV screen is static, depressing the retirees. Lisa decides to buy a Zii (a take on Wii) and the seniors are enthralled with the new game.

Bart discovers Homer’s secret lottery money and the two decide to do fun things together. When Homer worries they are spending too much of the lottery money, Bart blackmails his dad telling him he will rat on him to Marge. Homer and Bart spend oodles of money, including buying out a Coldplay concert with only Homer and Bart in attendance.

Lisa returns to visit Grandpa and finds out the nurses have destroyed the game. The seniors became too active using the Zii game and the nurses decided they had to work too hard so they ran the Zii game through the dishwasher to ruin it.

Homer gets fed up with Bart’s threats, buys a hot air balloon and takes Marge on a surprise ride in the air. Homer tells Marge about his lottery winnings, Marge could care less about the duet and is excited to hear about the money. Homer admits he spent all the winnings already but still loves Marge.

The Simpsons visit Wet and Wacky World. Grandpa complains about being tired. The family goes to the Splash Zone but Grandpa doesn’t want to go so he sits on the bench shaped like a shark. The family watches the giant Slimu octopus who does a big show for the guests. A young newspaper columnist named Marshall sits with Grandpa on the shark bench. Grandpa tells the reporter all about his experiences in the Navy and how when his ship went down he and his shipmates rode on the back of sharks until help arrived. The reporter wants to hear more stories. The reporter tells Grandpa he will feature Grandpa’s stories in the newspaper.

Larry the lamb is the stuffed animal that Bart’s classmates get to take turns taking home for the weekend. Everyone but Bart wants to take Larry the lamb home, Bart could care less about Larry. Bart’s name gets chosen to take Larry the lamb home. Nelson bullies Bart into writing in Nelson’s journal about how great Larry the lamb is.

Homer cooks up bacon then pours some bacon grease into his morning coffee. As Homer drinks his coffee Flanders shows Homer the human interest news article about his dad Abe. When Homer reads the article he is shocked that his father is actually interesting.

Marshall the reporter visits Grandpa Abe and asks him for more stories. Grandpa talks about being a shoeshine boy at Springfield station. Grandpa met many old time movie stars. Grandpa talked to Clark Gable who wasn’t famous yet and gives him a book to read called “Gone With The Wind”. Grandpa tells Marshall he gave Gable his best role ever by giving him the book.

Homer complains that Grandpa never shared the newspaper stories with him. Marge tells Homer Grandpa is always sharing his old time stories but Homer never listens. Bart is manhandling Larry the lamb and Lisa tells him to knock it off. Lisa rescues Larry the lamb and takes Larry out for a walk in a stroller. As Lisa waxes on about Jazz music the stroller rolls out into the street. Lisa grabs the stroller but Larry flies through the air and lands down the sewer.

The author of “Tuesdays With Morrie” tries to get a story from Grandpa but he tells him to scram. Homer visits Grandpa who tells him he only visits him twice a year and that the reporter Marshall is more of a son to him than Homer is.

When Bart goes to retrive Larry the lamb Lisa tries to pretend he’s in a bag. Bart finds out Larry is missing. Nelson walks by and tells Lisa and Bart he can’t wait to see Larry again at school. When Lisa asks Nelson how he would feel if Larry were missing, Nelson tells them a very dark side of him would appear if so since Larry helps keep him sane.

Marge and Homer discuss Grandpa’s rejection of Homer. Homer talks to Mr. Burns hoping he can become another father to him. Mr. Burns tells Homer what a nice visit they had then releases a vicious dog to chase him down. Bart and Lisa try to get Larry the lamb back. Lisa lowers Bart into the sewer by rope. When Bart reaches for a furry object in the sewer water he thinks is Larry it turns out to be a live rat. Bart becomes scared in the sewer as rats surround him.

Homer visits the local newspaper and finds Marshall’s office. Homer discovers a novel Marshall has written about Homer’s father Abe. He reads in the novel that Abe passes away that very day. Abe and Marshall are scheduled to ride an old time train. Homer realizes Marshall is willing to kill Grandpa in order to win a pulitzer prize. Homer runs next to the train yells at Grandpa trying to warn him against Marshall.

As Bart is chased by a gang of sewer rats the rats suddenly stop in fear and run away. Bart turns around to find a gang sewer cats who start to chase Bart. He sees Larry the lamb at the top of a grate and holds onto Larry’s arms to slide down the metal bar to the sewer pipe. Bart is grateful to Larry for saving his life. Larry breaks apart as Bart flies out of the sewer pipe to safety and Bart starts to cry.

Marshall sneeks up to Grandpa to smother him with a pillow as he sleeps on the train. Homer jumps into the railway cabin and fights with Marshall. Grandpa was pretending to sleep and confronts Marshall to save Homer. As the train screeches to a halt, Marshall flies back against the wall and is covered by dozens of old fashioned hat boxes. Homer and Grandpa apologize to each other and embrace.

Grandpa begins to tell Bart and Lisa about saving Homer. Grandpa tells Homer he should tell his own story. Homer starts rambling about an Elvis and Godzilla story as the children listen intently.

Ricky Gervais will star in a new animated series for HBO entitled “The Ricky Gervais Show”. Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, along with their friend Karl Pilkington, will serve as producers of the new animated TV comedy. Gervais, Merchant and Pilkington will also star as the voice talent for the new animated series. HBO stated that The Ricky Gervais Show is based on Gervais’ popular podcasts with Pilkington’s musings, similar to the podcasts, inspiring storylines for the series episodes. “Ricky Gervais is one of the most original comic voices working today,” noted Carolyn Strauss, president, HBO Entertainment.

Gervais has previously appeared on HBO in “Extras,” winning him an Emmy as best comedy actor. Gervais starred in and created the British TV series “The Office,” which was adapted for the hit series for the American audience on NBC.

“The Ricky Gervais Show debuts on HBO a month after the Globes,” Gervais blogged recently, mentioning the launch of the show follows his upcoming gig as host of the host of the Golden Globe Awards January 17. “I think it could be bigger than Extras. Big words. Well to Karl they’re big words.”

Gervais, Merchant and Pilkington serve as producers for the half-hour animated show, with animation created by Wildbrain, the company behind the popular preschool show Yo Gabba Gabba.

Gervais stated he wanted to keep the new show running long term because of Pilkington – “a global village idiot, but the funniest man alive”.

“Karl is a bottomless well of stupidity, so unlike my other shows The Office and Extras, which I stopped prematurely through fear of going stale and running out of ideas, I want this to run and run like The Simpsons. The world has a new Homer, but this one is real,” said Gervais.

Gervais is known for creating and starring in British comedies. The successful American spinoff of The Office is produced by Gervais. Gervais has starred in the films “Ghost Town” and “The Invention of Lying”. His children’s book series is a bestseller and is being adapted into a 3-D animated feature film.

The Ricky Gervais Show will premiere February 19th on HBO.

To celebrate The Simpsons 20th anniversary, FOX is going yellow. Beginning January 3rd FOX graphical elements on their website will turn yellow to honor Matt Groening’s show. The Simpsons has become an icon in television history as the longest running television show. The Simpsons holds the record as the longest-running American animated program, the longest-running American sitcom and surpassed Gunsmoke in 2009 as the the longest running American primetime entertainment series. The celebration will cover all FOX web sites, on-air graphics, social-networking pages and on-air promotions including FOX news anchors wearing yellow ties.

“We always knew at the end of the campaign we’d go yellow,” said FOX VP of Marketing Joe Earley who has been in charge of the celebration campaign. Other ongoing celebrations of The Simpsons have included a viewer creating a new Simpsons character, on-air scavenger hunts, viewers creating Simpsons posters and the new Simpsons postage stamps.

The final part of The Simpsons celebration is a one-hour documentary special “The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: in 3-D! on Ice” about the animated series, directed by Morgan Spurlock (”Super Size Me” and “Thirty Days”) airing on Sunday, January 10, at 8:30. Prior to the documentary The Simpsons will show its 450th episode “Once Upon a Time in Springfield,” featuring the voice talent of the late Eartha Kitt, Anne Hathaway, and Jackie Mason (reprising his role as Krusty’s father, Rabbi Hyman Krustofski). The Simpsons documentary will explore the cultural influence of The Simpsons, including interviews with the cast of the show. Spurlock stated that contrary to the film title the documentary “most likely will not be in 3-D nor on ice.”

FOX has had an extensive marketing plan in the works to celebrate The Simpsons. Even though The Simpsons is not their highest rated series (that honor goes to “Family Guy”), the show is revered for its creativity and longevity.

“For a show to hit its 20th anniversary in today’s universe is such a feat, and it still has such a resonance in the zeitgeist,” Earley said. “The show has viewers who have viewed it for three generations. Besides, it’s such a creative property that it’s fun to come up with ideas for it.”

The Simpsons appeared in 1987 as part of shorts by Matt Groening shown during “The Tracey Ullman Show”. After gaining popularity through The Tracey Ullman Show The Simpsons premiered on FOX as a half-hour Christmas special December 17, 1989, then as a series January 14, 1990.

Catch the 450th episode of The Simpsons at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT and “The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: in 3-D! on Ice” documentary at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on FOX January 10, 2010.

Mr. Pewterschmidt is hesitant to agree but finally gives in. Peter, Joe and Quagmire take Mr. Pewterschmidt to the local strip bar for a lap dance. Mr. Pewterschmidt is so shocked by the lap dance that he has a heart attack and falls into a coma. Lois, her mother and Peter sit by while Mr. Pewterschmidt is in the hospital and not responding to treatment. Even Dr. House (guest voice Hugh Laurie) cannot find a way to help bring Mr. Pewterschmidt out of his coma. Lois is given control over her father’s corporation and wonders how her father’s company will run without him. Peter talks Lois into letting him run the corporation while Mr. Pewterschmidt is in a coma. Peter begins to like the feeling of power and the many benefits he receives while running the company.

Mr. Pewterschmidt finally comes out of his coma to discover Peter is in charge of his company. Mr. Pewterschmidt meets with Peter at the office to regain control of his company but Peter will not give Mr. Pewterschmidt back the power and has Mr. Pewterschmidt thrown out of the office. Lois argues with Peter about giving back the company to her father but it does no good. Peter arrives home in a jet, landing on his street and tearing down power lines, setting Joe’s home on fire. As Joe yells at Peter, Peter goes into the house without a care in the world.

Mr. Pewterschmidt has always treated Peter with no respect. Now that the tables are turned Peter decides to make Mr. Pewterschmidt do the most gross and menial jobs in the company. Peter goes on a power trip and flaunts his power in front of Mr. Pewterschmidt. Peter decides what better position for Mr. Pewterschmidt to have than the office janitor position. Mr. Pewterschmidt is humiliated and horrified but goes along with Peter’s demands.

Lois cooks up a scheme with her father to scare Peter into signing off his power in the corporation. Lois knows Peter is terrified of monsters and plans for her father to dress in a monster costume to scare Peter. Lois visits Peter in his office, telling him a monster is attacking and killing all the corporate bigwigs in town and convinces him to sign his name on a contract giving back the company to her father. Peter signs and runs out of the office, terrified. Lois turns to find her father in a monster costume saying he’s ready to scare Peter. Lois and her father realize the real monster is right in front of them and run for their lives.

Marge tells Bart she and Homer are happy with three children and think it is the perfect number. Marge reminds Bart if she did get pregnant there would be no guarantee that Bart would end up with another sister instead of a little brother.

Bart has a dream that he is carrying shopping bags for his three sisters and absolutely hates life while being their pack mule. As Bart dreams he dislikes the idea of another sister as they force him to obey their commands and enjoy sister-like closeness. Bart dreams of different famous brothers like the Blues Brothers, the Mario Brothers, the Manning brothers, the Wright brothers, the Smith cough drop brothers, and last but not least the Smothers brothers, who then go into one of their comedy routines.

Bart decides to visit the Springfield orphanage to find a brother for himself. After getting turned down to adopt a brother, Charlie, one of the boys, escapes and meets up with Bart who promptly declares him his new little brother. Bart takes Charlie to watch Sever V. Charlie is so terrified of the scary movie he curls up in a fetal position. As Bart and Charlie head home from the movie Charlie is frightened by all the noises surrounding them. Lisa finds Bart has brought Charlie home and that Bart wants to have Charlie adopted into the family. Lisa tries to convince Bart they shouldn’t adopt Charlie. Bart and Charlie run away from home and hide in a hole dug out of a snow hill. Lisa joins them and warns them the snow plow is going to cover up the hole. Bart argues with Lisa and the escape hole is covered up by the snow plow. Lisa is frantic but Bart tells Lisa its no problem as he and Charlie pee into the snow, melting an escape hole. Charlie runs up to Chief Wiggum, begging him to take him back to the orphanage because Bart has scared him so much.

Bart and Lisa goes to the orphanage to visit Charlie. They find out Charlie has been adopted into a family with six very bossy, talkative, active sisters. Charlie gets shoved into the family car and looks out the back window in terror as the family drives away.

Bart and Lisa protest leaving so early and Marge looks half asleep. Homer gets on the freeway and finds that everyone else away for the weekend is leaving at the same time, bogging them down for a long trip home. As hours go by, Bart, Lisa and Maggie play an annoying game that makes noise and repeats its instructions over and over. After hours of noise from the toy Homer has had enough and grabs the toy, smashing it at his feet in the car. When Homer looks up he sees a semi-truck coming straight at them and realizes the toy is wedged under his gas peddle, all he can do is turn the wheel. They careen off the highway and the family ends up on an icy lake from the accident. Cleatus, a local hillbilly, drags the unconscious Simpsons out of their car and takes them to his cabin in the snowy hills.

The family recovers and discovers the hillbilly lifestyle. Homer finds out they have pretty good moonshine from their stills and imbibes with the local guys club. Bart finds live grenades the hillbillies have stored away and uses them as bowling balls to blow up snowmen. Lisa hides from the other girls in a hide and seek game. As it gets dark she realizes no one is coming for her and tries to find her way home. Lisa runs into a coven of witches, a group of three teenage girls who consider themselves Wiccans and practice casting spells. Lisa is impressed and feels accepted by the pagan group. The Wiccans cast a spell to help Lisa as she laments about her teacher. At school, Lisa hurries to create a pipecleaner sculpture that is due today. Lisa finds out her teacher is home sick. The substitute teacher gives them all an A on the pipecleaner project. Lisa believes the Wiccans cast a spell on her teacher, saving her from flunking her pipecleaner project.

Homer decides to go back and hang out with the hillbilly guys to drink moonshine. As they drink, police sirens are heard and the hillbillies dump their moonshine into the river. Half the people in Springfield suddenly go blind. The town decides the Wiccans have cast a spell on them and take the girls to court. Lisa sticks up for the Wiccans, saying its the first time she felt cool and was treated well by the girls. The judge dismisses the case but the angry mob decides to take matters into their own hands. As the town prepares to dunk the teenage witches into water (shades of The Crucible) Lisa tells the town that the hillbilly stills leaked moonshine into the local drinking water and the blindness the people are experiencing is temporary. Lisa saves the day and the Wiccans are released.

Quagmire is having a garage sale. Peter and the family buy some items from the sale. Peter buys an old Ham radio and spends weeks trying to get sound out of the radio, irritating Lois to no end. Stewie asks Brian if he will take him to Baby Gap because he wants to dress as a “baby douche”. Brian says he’ll do it another time. Stewie’s double appears and asks him a question. Brian asks who this is and Stewie tells him he cloned himself so he would have a helper. Stewie calls his cloned double “Bitch Stewie”. Stewie dumbed down Bitch Stewie so he would follow his orders. Brian is duly impressed.

Chris suggests to his dad that he listen to the Ham radio frequencies because he has heard you can hear ghosts there. Peter gets even more interested in his Ham radio. He finally connects with a voice on a frequency who tells him he is Ronald Reagan. Peter asks Reagan all sorts of personal questions. Peter takes his Ham radio to Quohog Kareoke and sings a duet of “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” with Ronald Reagan. When Reagan sings the static sound is ear piercing and drives the audience crazy with ear pain.

Brian goes to use the bathroom and finds Stewie is taking a bath with Bitch Stewie who is washing his back for him. Brian is a little disturbed by this and walks away. Peter is very excited about his discovery of the ghost of Reagan and shares his new find with his buddies at the bar. Quagmire and Joe are interested but then question things when Reagan plugs Rich Little’s next stand-up engagement. Peter realizes Rich Little is on the airwave doing an impersonation of Reagan. The next day Peter goes to Quagmire’s house to get a refund for his Ham radio purchase. When Quagmire answers the door he sees a baby on his steps along with a note saying he should have worn a condom. Peter, Lois and Joe help Quagmire get a DNA test to see if the baby is his and it is. They leave Quagmire to deal with the baby and he doesn’t know what to do with it.

Brian asks Stewie if he would make a Brian clone for him. Stewie agrees if Brian will do something vaguely sexual first. Brian agrees and Stewie makes a clone of Brian. Stewie tells Brian he dumbed down his clone even more and actually let Bitch Stewie create Brian’s clone, calling him Bitch Brian. Brian meets Bitch Brian who does not function well and is even dumber than Bitch Stewie. Brian gives Bitch Brian a list of things to do for him.

Quagmire has a date over and they end up in bed. Quagmire falls asleep before anything can happen because he has had so little sleep taking care of the baby. When Quagmire wakes up to find his date gone he decides the baby must go. He arranges to have the baby taken by the adoption agency.

Brian finds out that instead of washing his car, Bitch Brian hit his car with a rock. Bitch Brian’s jaw falls off and Brian asks Stewie what’s happening. Stewie suggests their Bitch Brian and Bitch Stewie clones are unstable and ready to fall apart. Bitch Brian melts into a puddle and as Bitch Stewie says “I hope that doesn’t happen to me” he melts into a puddle of goo as well. Brian says as a dog he is compelled to lick up the melted clones.

Quagmire, Peter and Joe go to a stripper joint to celebrate but all Quagmire can think of is Anna Lee. Quagmire and his friends go to the adoptive family’s home and Quagmire sees that Anna Lee is happy with her new family. Quagmire decides its best for the baby to stay with her new family since Quagmire will always be a swinging bachelor guy.

The supervisor of the nuclear plant is retiring and Mr. Burns thinks one of the morons (Homer, Carl and Lenny) should be the new supervisor. Deciding Carl is the least moronic of the bunch, he promotes Carl to the position. Carl starts ordering Homer around and Homer doesn’t like the change in Carl.

Marge tells the women of the Springfield Charity Chicks that their last bake sale fundraiser for childhood obesity raised $112. The ladies try to decide what kind of fundraiser to do this year. One of the ladies suggests a similar calendar like the hot selling beefcakes calendar in town. The ladies decide on making a history calendar to raise funds.

Carl is so busy now he blackmails Homer into becoming his executive assistant. Homer is working all hours of the day and night taking care of Carl’s every beckon call. The ladies arrive at the photographer’s studio and begin their photos for the fundraising calendar. The photographer plies the ladies with red wine and soon Marge’s sedate golfer from the twenties outfit is reduced to her underwear and worse.

Homer is working 100 hours a week and exhausted. Marge wants to get cosy in bed but Homer keeps falling asleep. After a few nights of this Homer promises Marge they will go away to a romantic hotel for a night of passion. Marge takes the kids to the mall and discovers the Springfield Charity Chicks calendar is selling like hotcakes and all the month’s of the year pictures are of her in skimpy outfits. Marge sees the risque photos, is horrified and can’t remember taking them.

Homer and Marge are at the hotel and enjoying their time alone when Carl calls, insisting Homer accompany him to France for a company meeting. Homer promises Marge he will make it up to her. Marge is mad that Homer leaves for France and throws a croquet mallet over the hedge, hitting Ed Flanders in the head. To apologize, Marge asks Ed and his kids over for dinner. Marge discovers Lisa and Bart have other plans; Ed arrives without his kids who he has grounded for watching a non-Christian commercial on TV. Marge and Ed finish dinner and as Ed washes the dishes he accidently soaks his shirt and Marge’s dress with water. As the wet t-shirt effect happens Marge and Ed are drawing closer to kiss each other then stop.

Homer is excited to see the sites of France. Carl and Homer attend a fancy party. A french woman hooks up with Carl and Carl tells Homer to do a seductive dance to entice the woman for him. As Homer wanders the streets of France he misses Marge and sees her face everywhere. Homer tells Carl he is flying back home and threatens to blackmail him if he fires him. Homer knows Carl is dating the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy’s wife, Carla Bruni. Carl relents and Homer flies home.

As Marge and Ed have dessert, the whipped cream and strawberries are enticing them both and they almost kiss but Marge tells him no. Just then Homer arrives home and doesn’t suspect a thing. Ed leaves as Homer picks up Marge and carries her upstairs for some unfinished business in the bedroom.

In the 20th anniversary of “Treehouse of Horror” Halloween special from The Simpsons starts with a salute to Alfred Hitchcock with a black and white tale of horror. Lisa has a run in with her teacher and seeks revenge. Bart and Lisa make a deal to “ding-dong ditch” each other’s teacher with a prank so they won’t be found out. Lisa pranks Bart’s teacher by ringing her doorbell and running away. Bart beheads Lisa’s teacher and shows her the gory results. Bart insists “ding-dong ditch” means doing the teacher in and Lisa must hold up her end of the bargain. After a number of failed attempts by Lisa to kill off Bart’s teacher, Bart pressures handing her a knife to do the deed. Lisa decides to take revenge on Bart instead. Chasing Bart with the knife Lisa accidently hits Bart in the head with the knife, killing him, with Lisa lamenting she really didn’t mean to do it. Bart’s teacher meets Lisa at the crime scene and the two of them walk away and sneek a knowing look at each other.

The second scary tale takes place at Krusty’s where eating a mere burger turns local news anchor Kent Brochman into a zombie. After 28 days the Simpsons see nothing but canibal zombies taking over Springfield from the window of their home. Bart sneeks out and grabs a Krusty burger because he is so hungry and somehow he doesn’t become a zombie. Marge believes Bart is the Chosen One who may be able to save others by donating his blood. The Simpsons decide they must make a run for it before the “munchers” break into their home and eat them. As the zombies break into their home the family runs out into the street covered in munchers. Apu, spared because he is a vegetarian, drives up in an armored hummer to save them, driving out of Springfield until the car gets stuck. Apu gets out to loosen the tire while Marge is behind the wheel. Marge guns the car and states how brave Apu is for sacrificing himself for them while Apu yells she is supposed to wait for him. The Simpsons arrive at the “safe zone” where people are hiding from the zombies. Bart saves everyone from being a zombie by bathing in a tub of water that their food soaks in, requiring Lisa and the others to eat food soaked with his bath water.

The final frightening tale is a musical that takes place in Moe’s bar, with the musical numbers parodying well known musicals as a theater audience watches the show. The musical begins with Homer visiting the bar and falling into the basement, impaled on the brewing equipment. When Marge comes to search for Homer, Moe struggles to tell her what happened to Homer then realizes he can have Marge to himself. Moe tells Marge Homer has turned gay and left her for good. After a week Marge decides its time to move on and a tear she sheds falls through the floor, hitting Homer on the forehead. Her tear gives him the power to proclaim his love and he pushes Moe away from Marge, with a big musical number signaling the end of the show.
