The GCC Mascot delivers Valentines gifts across campus as Jeff and his girlfriend, Professor Slater, talk about what expectations she may have for Valentine’s Day. Professor Slater tells Jeff she will be chaperoning the GCC Valentine’s Day dance, and Jeff plans on meeting her there. Jeff listens to his voice-mail messages and finds a drunken message from Britta, known as a late night booty call. Jeff can’t wait to tease Britta about the call.

The study group gets Valentine’s from the GCC Mascot as a very hung-over Britta enters the room with dark sunglasses and a cup of coffee. Everyone in the study group except Troy and Pierce receive Valentine’s gifts. Jeff ribs Britta over the booty call and, embarrassed that she left the message, she leaves the study group in a hurry. Abed warns Jeff he must drunk dial Britta back or awkwardness will ensue between them.

As Jeff and Britta walk across campus together they notice Vaughn is singing a song to Annie and they are flirting with each other. Jeff is freaked, thinking if Annie hooks up with Vaughn every creepy guy on campus is going to hit on her. Britta is surprised but generally ok with them dating. At study group Abed and Troy plan their next movie night, telling the gang they make fun of bad B movies while watching them. Shirley wants to join in and is invited while Pierce invites himself to movie night.

Annie pulls aside Britta and asks if she minds if she dates Britta’s ex Vaughn. Britta tells Annie she is fine with her dating Vaughn but really isn’t ok with the idea. Jeff and Britta meet at the cafeteria where Britta talks about Annie asking permission to date Vaughn. Jeff feels he and Britta should watch out for Annie since they are her “Greendale parents.”

Troy, Abed, Shirley and Pierce watch “Kickpuncher” together on movie night, with Senior Chang a last minute drop in. The rest of the gang jokes and laughs about the movie but Pierce doesn’t feel like he fits in. His lame movie jokes aren’t going over well.

Annie suggests the Spanish Club meet at a new time but Britta and Troy both oppose the idea and neither will talk about why they oppose changing the meeting time. The gang wonders where Pierce is, no one has seen or heard from him today and Shirley begins to worry that Pierce has died. Pierce walks through the door proving Shirley’s theory wrong. Britta finds a woman’s hair on Jeff’s jacket and asks him who he is dating. The rest of the group are interested too but Jeff begs off revealing who he is dating.

Troy heads down the hall, whooping it up with his macho buddies. Troy walks through the door to a dance class, rips off his tear away pants to reveal tights and starts to dance with the modern dance group. Jeff meets with Professor Slater and they exchange pleasantries at her door. Once inside they embrace and it is apparent who Jeff is dating. Dean Pelton knocks on Professor Slater’s door interupting them. Dean Pelton reminds them there is a policy against teachers and students dating and fears their combined hotness means they are liable to hook up. Professor Slater and Jeff act innocent and agree with the dean.

The Spanish club meets up for their first get-together after winter break. After sitting around the table they discover that Buddy Austin (guest star Jack Black), a classmate that no one knows from Spanish class, has joined the club. Buddy tries too hard to be liked by the group, making lame jokes and ends up kicking Jeff in the nose while showing off his martial arts skills.

Dean Pelton lures Jeff into his office to convince him to be the new editor of the college newspaper. Dangling an office and power in front of Jeff works and he takes to his new position quickly, ordering Annie to scope out school gossip, Abed to get to work and other newspaper students to get him pizza.

As the Spanish Club gets ready for their first class in Spanish 102, a woman standing in front of a make-shift memorial in the classroom tells them Senor Chang died over the winter break. The class is shocked and sad. Suddenly Senor Chang comes bounding in with blaring boom box with theme music, having faked them out by hiring a professional actress to announce his passing. Senor Chang, having shaken up the class, tells them he cannot die and to expect the unexpected from the class this year.

Shirley is throwing a Christmas party for her fellow Spanish Club members. Shirley believes her classmates are the only real family she has left after her divorce. She gives out Jesus bracelets saying “WWBJD” — what would Baby Jesus do? which the gang reluctantly puts on to be polite.

In the student lounge Abed grabs some winterdoodle cookies to share with his classmates. The college bully gives Abed a hard time for taking his favorite cookies. Jeff steps up and verbally assaults the bully, telling him to back away. Dean Pelton breaks up the argument.

Dean Pelton and Annie discuss the new upcoming Greendale STD fair campus event, organized by Annie. Dean Pelton and Annie wear STD t-shirts to promote the event. Annie passes out fortune cookies with fortunes saying, “You’ll get AIDs unless you go to the STD fair”. Jeff and Britta are introduced to Dean Pelton’s new airhead administrative assistant who Jeff notes is also pretty hot.

Pierce has a new girlfriend he wants to introduce to Jeff. Pierce invites Jeff to a double date at the STD affair with Pierce’s new girlfriend who happens to be an escort but doesn’t charge him to date her. Pierce and Jeff trade jabs at each other about who is the more successful dater, and Jeff acknowledges it’s been a dry spell for him.

Dean Pelton announces the college is getting involved in Green week and changing the college’s name to Environdale. The students point out that their college is already named Greendale. Dean Pelton tells the students Green Day will be playing at the event.

The Spanish class is taking a test, Senor Chang asks everyone to put down their pens and all but Annie stop. Annie works busily having missed what Senor Chang said. Senor Chang drags Annie and her desk out into the hall and closes the door on her. An angry Senor Chang tells the class they must write a paper based on Annie’s mistake. When the students protest Senor Chang ups the ante until the paper is 20 pages, which they think is unfair.

The Spanish club decides someone needs to confront Senor Chang and talk him out of the 20 page assignment. They figure Jeff is the coolest of them and can sell Senor Chang on their idea. Jeff reluctantly agrees.

Britta is trying to quit smoking and everyone around her wishes she’d start up again. Pierce tells a bad joke and Britta loses it. Britta is acting crazed and taking it out on the study group. Pierce, a jack of all trades, tells Britta she should try hypnotherapy to stop smoking and he just happens to be a hypnotherapist. Britta agrees to try a few hypnotherapy sessions with Pierce because she feels sorry for him.

Troy shows the group Abed’s student films at Greendale’s A/V department’s website. Abed’s latest film features how he sees the lives of his friends in the study group. Shirley thinks Abed is psychic because he seems to know exactly what she will say and do next.

Annie asks Jeff to be her partner on the debate team so she can beat her nemesis Simmons, City College’s star debater, who uses the fact he is in a wheelchair to his advantage. Dean Pelton bribes Jeff with a free parking space if he will participate in the debates and Jeff goes for it. Annie tells Jeff they must study for the debate but Jeff doesn’t feel he needs the practice. Jeff thinks debating is just like his lawyer days so no sweat, but Annie thinks he’s mistaken and must study under her tutelage.

The Spanish class listens to Senor Chang as he teaches. Jeff is asleep, head leaning back and mouth open. Senor Chang throws items at Jeff’s mouth, laughing.

The class is over and Shirley and Britta wonder why Jeff is so tired. They see Jeff taking a sponge bath and brushing his teeth near his car in the college parking lot. Shirley and Britta realize Jeff is homeless and confront him. Jeff fesses up to being temporarily homeless while his condo association puts up his condo for sale.

Troy asks Annie for dating advice and Annie thinks Troy is asking her on a date. When Annie realizes Troy is interested in dating another girl, Annie is heartbroken but tries to help Troy with his upcoming date because she can at least hang out with him.

Annie tells the Spanish class she has decided to throw a Dia de los Muertos costume party in the library for extra credit. Annie asks Jeff to attend the party because her past parties were bombs and Jeff is cool and popular so everyone will stay at the party. Jeff tells Annie he will come by the party.

Jeff is interested in dating his new statistics professor and leaves the party to go see the professor at her college faculty party. Annie realizes Jeff has left the Dia de los Muertos early. At the faculty party Professor Slater tells Jeff she doesn’t date students. He engages the help of Senor Chang, a faculty member, to get him into the party. Senor Chang gives him pointers after Jeff keeps striking out with the statistics professor and Chang’s strategy works, gaining Jeff a date for tonight.

Pierce is in the bathroom and plans to take a Viagra like pill for the party. Another partygoer sees him taking pills and suggests they trade pills to have twice the fun. Pierce tries to act cool and trades pills, ending up taking some sort of hallucinogenic and starts tripping while at the party.
