House Season 6 Episode 13: Moving The Chains
A college football star hits all the right marks during a game and is set to compete in NFL tryouts the next week. Suddenly lineman Daryl Bartlett becomes aggressive with other players then hits himself in the forehead with his own helmet, injuring himself. Daryl’s strange behavior and injuries land him in the hospital.
House and the team discuss Daryl’s injuries and bizarre actions, watching the video tape of the incident. House attributes the outburst to steroid rage, but tests reveal he is clean. The team discovers Daryl injects his sore ankles with lidocane every game. Foreman suggests repeated head trauma might lead to damage at the base of the brain leading to the pituitary gland, creating excess hormones causing the rage. House has Taub test Daryl for elevated GNRH in the blood. Daryl’s mother tells Taub Daryl must be able to play in Saturday’s game because talent scouts will be there.
Wilson becomes angry with House when he wakes to find House taking a bath in Wilson’s bathroom. Wilson tells House to use his own bathroom but House says there is no tub in that bathroom and his leg is hurting. House examines a soldier going back to the middle east for a fourth deployment, trying to get out of the tour on a medical discharge because his wife is pregnant. House chides the soldier asking him why he didn’t to to Canada or shoot himself in the foot to avoid deployment?
Tests reveal Daryl’s pituitary is normal but the GNRH is high, indicating steroid use. Daryl denies steroid use and his heart begins to race. House suspects Daryl has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. House orders the team to put Daryl through a treadmill stress test.
Co-workers Russ and Valerie bicker over meeting details when he throws up. Valerie tells her boss Russ has been drinking again. Valerie is suddenly overcome with a piercing sound in her ears. Foreman discusses Valerie’s case with the team, mentioning to House that she is hot, supposedly to convince House to take the case. House has the team meet in Wilson’s office. House ignores Foreman until he mentions Valerie’s husband is not as attractive and House is compelled to understand why. House thinks Valerie’s problems are related to her heart. House’s cell phone rings and he ignores the call.
During a meeting on an upcoming drug deal, Mickey, one of the thugs, gets in a fight with another thug. Mickey collapses and the other guys run while his friend Eddie tries to help him.
Courier Jimmy Sidas arrives at a scientific bookstore for a delivery. The bookstore owner recognizes him as a famous scientist and asks for an autograph. Jimmy finally agrees then realizes he is unable to write his name.
A group of girls are in line at a concert, two of the teenage girls try to crash backstage and succeed. Jordan and Phoebe get invited to a party after the concert. The next day they sit at a restaurant telling their friends all about their evening when Jordan’s feet and hands swell and she collapses.
When billionaire Roy Randall touches any business deal its golden, but all his money can’t fix his son Jack who is slowly dying of a disease seventeen doctors have not been able to diagnose. Randall goes to Princeton-Plainsboro to beg Cuddy to let House treat his son. House is still not licensed so Foreman heads the team to treat Randall’s son. Foreman still feels uncomfortable being the head of the team when House continues to influence medical decisions. Cuddy informs Foreman he must speak at the Morbidity and Mortality conference about the errors in Dibala’s case, which concerns Chase and Foreman.
