When Jo finds out Michael and Jim are co-managers doing one person’s job, she doesn’t like the set up.
As Valentine’s Day approaches Andy wants to give Erin a card. Andy’s plan is to give everyone in the office a card so it is not so obvious to Erin how much he likes her. Erin loves her card but doesn’t recognize Peanut’s Snoopy and Woodstock in the card, leaving Andy puzzled. Kelly gets a mushy card from Andy and thinks Andy is crushing on her. If only Kelly knew Andy didn’t bother to read the cards before passing them out and has no clue. After Kelly reveals her card to Erin, Erin is crushed knowing she can’t compete with the sophisticated Kelly for Andy’s affections.

This Office episode was basically a clip show wrapped in a few segments of new material surrounding the sale of Dunder Mifflin. A potential buyer for the business sends a fact checker to look over inventory and talk with Toby in Human Resources about possible problems in the branch office. Pam is intrigued with the notion that since the New York office closed, Michael is the highest ranking position in the company, a scary thought.

Phyllis made a deal with Jim to play Santa this year. Michael demands that Jim tell Phyllis she can’t be the office Santa but Jim tells Michael Phyllis is Santa for this year’s office party. An upset Michael tries to spoil the office party and calls Phyllis “Tranny Claus”.
Dwight schemes to set Jim up by talking Andy into suggesting an employee of the month program. Dwight lets Andy think its Andy’s idea. Dwight’s plan is to have Jim fired by David Wallace in six hours time. Michael is facing his worst offense ever. Michael promised ten years ago he would pay college tuition for a class of fifteen children if they kept up their grades in school. The ten years are up as the high school kids are ready to graduate and it is time to tell the kids the truth. Michael is terrified and begs Pam to go with him but she sends Erin instead to make sure Michael tells them the truth.
Dwight arrives at the office dressed as recyclops, a character he created for Earth Day. Every year Dwight’s costume gets more elaborate until he becomes a transformer type hero for the earth, wreaking havoc in the office. Michael has been invited to speak at Dunder Mifflin’s shareholder’s meeting and is excited he is being recognized by the company. Michael practices his speech and gets advice from the office staff, who suggest he does not twirl after giving his speech.
When Dwight brings up an all-staff email from David Wallace, Michael tries to distract the office staff. The email mentions a Wall Street Journal article so Oscar investigates the article and sees it mentions Dunder Mifflin may be heading into bankruptcy. The office staff panics thinking they may be losing their jobs. With the possibility of Dunder Mifflin closing, Andy, who was hoping Erin would ask him out, is determined to ask Erin out on a date.
Dwight arrives with a box full of bagels, trying to get on the good side of the office staff. Dwight hopes the staff will feel obligated to him as he tries to get Jim demoted from the management position he feels he should have gotten.
Michael decides to hold a Haunted House event for Halloween in the Dunder Mifflin warehouse for kids associated with the office complex. The office staff is dressed in Halloween costumes. Michael is dressed as one of the guys from the Saturday Night Live “D*** in a Box” video, sporting a strategically placed Christmas gift on his suit. As the kids are driven around on a pallet jack by Darryl, Michael jumps out from behind boxes and pretends to hang himself. The kids scream in fear. As Michael dangles from the rope he asks the kids if they are ready for candy.
Jim and Pam return to the office after their honeymoon in Puerto Rico and are greeted by their co-workers. Meredith asks Pam what gifts they brought back for them. Michael wants a meeting with Jim, eager to talk to Jim about his new girlfriend.
