The Office Season 6 Episode 12: Scott’s Tots
Dwight schemes to set Jim up by talking Andy into suggesting an employee of the month program. Dwight lets Andy think its Andy’s idea. Dwight’s plan is to have Jim fired by David Wallace in six hours time. Michael is facing his worst offense ever. Michael promised ten years ago he would pay college tuition for a class of fifteen children if they kept up their grades in school. The ten years are up as the high school kids are ready to graduate and it is time to tell the kids the truth. Michael is terrified and begs Pam to go with him but she sends Erin instead to make sure Michael tells them the truth.
Michael arrives at the high school to a great welcome by the kids. The kids are decked out in “Scott’s Tots” t-shirts and perform a cool cheer “Scott’s Tots” in his honor. Dwight suggests to Jim they collect money for a cash prize for the employee of the month which Jim disagrees with.
Dwight tells the staff about the cash prize and collects money desk by desk for the prize. Dwight provides Jim with a print out of employee performances signified by numbers and no names attached to the data. As Jim announces the number of the employee of the month, Dwight goes on about the cash prize. The winner is rigged by Dwight to be Jim. The staff is angry with Jim, who as a manager doesn’t qualify for the prize. A delivery person arrives with the employee of the month cake decorated with Jim’s picture on the front. Dwight’s plan is working as Jim tells the staff he is not eligible and chooses the next name on the list, which ends up being Pam. The staff erupts in anger and Jim is not sure what to do next to fix the problem.
Michael breaks the news to the kids that he cannot pay for their college tuition. The kids are in an uproar. Michael opens a suitcase of consolation gifts and mentions laptops only to pull out laptop batteries. The kids are even more upset as Michael tries to hand out the free batteries. Dwight secretly mimics some of the staff member’s voices making phony complaint phone calls to David Wallace’s office.
David Wallace calls Jim to discuss the complaints about Scranton’s employee of the month program. Dwight listens in on his strategically planted spy pen he hid in Jim’s office. Wallace is upset at first then apologizes for his outburst and tells Jim what a great job he’s doing, angering Dwight. Ryan tells Dwight he knows about his evil plan and wants in on getting Jim fired. Dwight and Ryan form an evil alliance.
As Michael leaves the high school one of the students confronts Michael on his failed promise. Michael feels so bad he promises to pay for the kid’s books, giving him a pre-signed check for every year he is in college. Erin drives Michael back to the office and notices Michael is feeling down about the broken promise to the kids. Erin starts singing the cheer “Scott’s Tots” because it’s catchy and Michael asks her to stop. Erin convinces Michael he helped the kids by encouraging them to do well in school and get good grades to get into college. Michael tells Erin she’s doing a good job at the office and appreciates her support. Michael starts singing the “Scott’s Tots” cheer as Erin smiles and joins in.
